Palolo Ki’i Pepe (Clay Doll):
These handcrafted porcelain dolls are fragile works of art. They should sit on a shelf or undisturbed on a bed. They will bring a smile to your face when they catch your eye in a special place.
I started with raw clay. A mold was used to form the head, shoulder plate, arms and legs. The face is hand painted and has been fired over five times to bond the color to the clay. The dress was designed specifically for this doll.
Choose from the young bride dressed in a traditional holoku with a haku lei in her hair or the sweet kaikamahine dressed in a bright pukiki with slippahs on her little brown feet.
$175 each.
